Lightsabers - Dynamic Shader Effect

This lightsaber effect was created by scripting blend shapes on the mesh to simulate the lightsabers trail, while also utilizing shaders, post-processing, and real-time lighting to achieve the glowing effect. I used a combination of C#, HLSL shader code, and global volume manipulation to achieve the classic look of the sabers for our Star Wars line of characters. Some lightsabers featured animated blend shapes to achieve more predictable trails for animated cinematics, and the characters and environments were contributed by other artists.
